Eerie Literature Similarites

Hello,

Okay yes. It’s been a veryveryvery long time since I’ve written anything. Why? I don’t know hahas. Probably because of the tests and everything. While I am pretty okay, I’m probably the worst student in my class. BUT OH WELL, thats what you get for being a small fish in a very very big pond (full of smart fishes).

Anyway, this year, we’ve been doing the literature text Of Mice And Men. It’s written by John Steinbeck, this really famous guy who is apparently one of the dudes who shaped 20th century literature. The book is SEEMED pretty simple to understand, except that apparently John Steinbeck is an evil scheming bitch who likes to foreshadow alot.

The book itself is about two farm hands who are like bffs and stuff. Sounds innocent enough right? WELL. I watched the movie that they made from it and suddenly I was like “god, this seems somewhat familiar…”

To what?????

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN!

Okay I KNOW IM NOT SUPPOSED TO BE WATCHING IT but since when has anyone cared about the movie rating!

Basically, it’s about two cowboys who spend a summer working on this place called Brokeback Mountain. Their friendship develops into gayness. It’s actually a really good movie, even if it is the start of every single gay “ship” you’ve heard in your life.

Now, since we are supposed to start formulating our own opinions on literature this year… I have come up with an awesome one! The truth is Brokeback Mountain is a weird gay fanfic of Of Mice And Men!

Pretty shocking and compelling, I know. This will rewrite the pages of 20th Century literature as well as the history of romantic cinema.

I present to you my case.

1) Two Guys Who Are Friends Who Work In A Field Concerning Farming/Cowboying/Whatever.

Of Mice And Men: Ranch Hands On A Farm

Brokeback Mountain:  Cowboys On A Mountain (in case you didn’t get that from the title)

2) They are super close friends

Of Mice And Men: Everyone in the book is always like “wow you guys are such good friends <3!”

Brokeback Mountain: Uhhh… They love….hug….. uh, kiss, each other…. alot.

3) The song In the trailers are eerily similar

Lazy to link, go watch yourself hahahha.

4) THEY ALL HAVE A DREAM OF OWNING A RANCH

Of Mice And Men : The whole book is about George and Lennie wanting to own their own farm.

Brokeback Mountain:

To quote Ennis: We could own a farm of our own

OKAY THAT WAS IT. So basically, I think someone read Of Mice And Men and thought they were pretty gayish sounding and made a movie out of it!

FINAL PROOF, PICTURE COMPARISON

OKAY THIS SHOULD’VE BEEN WHAT MY LIT ESSAY WAS ABOUT.
